Stairs and oven doors

Sain tänään tehtyä portaita hieman eteen päin. Jee!

Today I made process with the staircase. Yay! However, the treads took an unacceptably long time to make. How hard it can be to get the angle cut right?

These two steps were the biggest pain in the butt. I have to glue the pieces together as soon as possible before I lose the smallest part!

Lisäksi muokkasin alinta porrasta vielä hieman aikakaudelleen tyypillisemmiksi.

In addition, I modified the lowest step a little to be more appropriate to it's era.

After I got all that done the stairs were just screaming to get the marble finish started.

That second step was an experiment on how I can get the best shine without leaving any visible traces of the application. I decided to try an old clear nailpolish which I no longer use. The paper didn't really like the thick layer of the nailpolish and got a little soggy and grayer than it was in the beginning, but since it's an marble paper you can't really tell.

Vielä pitäisi päällystää tuo pahvi kuvassa näkyvällä messinkilevyllä (mikä on paperinohutta) en vaan omista peltisaksia joten täytyy varmaan kaivaa jostain tylsät taloussakset.

While I was waiting the nailpolish to dry I started on the oven doors of my tiled stove. I bought the small hinges that are just the right size for this from Craft Miniature UT at last week's fair. The cardboard will be covered with the brass sheet seen in the photo. It is paper thin. I do not own sheet metal scissors, so I guess I'll dig up some old household scissors to use.
