A new hairdo

Tarkoitukseni on ollut tehdä nukelle uusi hame, mutta kankaan valinta ja puvun leikkauksen päättäminen ovat venyttäneet projektia jo pidemmän aikaan. Edistystä on tapahtunut sen verran että sain vihdoinkin yläosan kaavan tehtyä, nyt enää on jäljellä alaosa (luulisi olevan helppo homma) ja lopullisen kankaan valinta.

I've been meaning to make a new dress for my doll. But choosing the fabric and the style of the cut for the dress has made the project stand still for a long time. Finally I've got the pattern for the bust made, now I only need to make the pattern for the skirt (should be easy) and deciding the fabric.


Sillä aikaa kun nukke odottaa vaatetustaan päädyin tekemään sille uuden kampauksen. Avasin nuken hiukset vanhalta lettinutturalta ja uudelleen liimasin ne haluamallani ja regency aikakauteen sopivalla tavalla.

In the mean time I ended up redoing the dolls hair. I undid the old hair do and reglued it the way I wanted and was proper for the regency period.

Kaavoja ja alushousuja - Patterns and pantaloons

Olen muutaman viime viikon aikana surffaillut internetissä keräten kuvia Regency/Empire ajan puvuista ja onnistunut löytämään muutamia luupaavan näköisiä kaavojakin. Lisäksi löysin paikallisesta kirjastosta Sue Atkinssonin kirjan: Making & Dressing Doll's House Dolls In 1/12 Scale, mistä löytyy hyvin eri aikakausille tyypillisten vaatteiden kaavoja, niin naisille, miehille kuin lapsillekin.

For the last few weeks I've been surfing on the net looking for reference pictures of the Regency/Empire style clothing, I've even found a few promising patterns. I also found this book called Making & Dressing Doll's House Dolls In 1/12 Scale by Sue Atkinsson from the local library. You can find good patterns there, for the typical clothes from different time periods for men, women and children.

Ensimmäisenä tein nukelleni pitkät alushousut, jotka ulottuvat melkein nilkkoihin asti, kuten silloin oli tapana. Tein omistani hieman vajaamittaiset, koska aikakauteen kuuluu myös nilkkapituiset hameet, enkä halua että ne vilkkuvat helman alta jos päädynkin tekemään lyhyemmän hameen. Tässä kohtaa suunnitelmissa kyllä on täysimittainen hame.

First I made the pantaloons, which extend almost down to the ankles, as they did at the time. I made mine a little shorter since the era also includes ankle length skirts and I didn't want the pantaloons to peak from underneath the skirt, if I end up to make an ankle lengt dress. Altought at this point the plan is to make a floor lenght one.

Nuken uudelleen kokoaminen - Reassembling the doll

Riisuttuani nuken vaatteet huomasin nuken raajojen olevan eri pituisia.

After taking the dolls clothes off I noticed that her extremities were uneven.

Ei muuta kuin uusimaan nuken raajojen piippukrassit, samalla muotoilin nukelle villalangasta paksummat reidet ja takamuksen.

So I had to redo her chennille stems, I also wrapped them with yarn to make her tighs bigger and to give her a bottom.

 Nuken kädet ovat vielä irti, koska ole varma vaikeuttaisiko niiden paikoillaan olo nuken vaatettamista.

Her hands are still off because I wasn't sure if they would make her dressing more difficult.

Alku - The Beginning

Olen jo pidemmän aikaa ihaillut miniatyyrejä netissä ja nyt, jäätyäni pitkälle sairaslomalle päätin vihdoin toteuttaa haaveeni ja aloittaa mineily.

Olen aina pitänyt Jane Austenista ja Regency-tyylistä, joten mikä olisikaan sopivampi aikakausi uudelle nukkeharrastukselleni!

En oikein tiennyt mistä aloittaa, joten aloitin itselleni tutuimmasta pääsätä, vaatteista. Ostin halvan posliini nuken, jonka vaatteet ovat väärältä aikakaudelta, joten olen päättänyt tehdä sille uuden puvun.


I have admired miniatures on the Internet for a long time now, and now that I'm on a long sick leave I decided to finally make my dream come true and start building my own dollhouse.

I've always liked Jane Austen and Regency style, so what would be more appropriate era for my dollworld.

I did not know where to start, so I started at the thhing I know best, making clothes. I bought a cheap porcelain doll, whose clothes are from the wrong era, so I've decided to make her a new dress.
