Still struggling to decide

Pääsin kaakeliuunissa sen verran etiäpäin että loputkin listat on paikoillaan ja sain muutaman kerroksen gessoa pintaan. Nyt vielä luukut ja itse kaakelit ja tietenkin puut pesään. Sain myös printattua ylimääräisiä paneeleita sen verran että pystyin testaamaan kahdella seinällä miltä tuo Worthmore oikein näyttää isolla pinnalla.

With the tiled stove I managed to get rest of the moldings glued in place and couple of layers of gesso on. Now I have to do the shutters and the tiles and of course the logs. Also I was able to print out a few extra panels to try out the Worthmore on two walls.

Tämä kuva on otettu ilman salamaa ja nukkiksessa ei ollut muuta valaistusta kuin tuo "takkatuli" tuolla kaakeliuunissa. Minusta tuo tapetti ei näytä liian tummalta mutten sittenkään ole 100% varma haluanko sitä seinälle... *huokaus* Älkää välittäkö kuvassa näkyvistä raoista, kiinnitin paneelit seinään sinitarralla ja ne alkoivatkin vähän retkottaa.

This picture was taken without flash and no other lighting inside the dollhouse other than the "firelight" inside the tiled stove. It doesn't look that dark but I'm still not 100% sure I want it on the walls... Sigh! And please don't mind the gaps. I put the panels up with Blu-Tack so it's a little saggy.

Ja tässä on vaihtoehto numero 2 Kew TNW (hylkäsin Bamboo and Sparrowsin julmasti) tässä on todella kauniit värit eikä siitä ainakaan tulisi huoneeseen tunkkaista fiilistä niin kuin ehkä Worthmoresta saattaisi tulla.

And here the option number 2 Kew TNW (notice I dropped the Bamboo and Sparrows). This one has really beautiful colors and it doesn't look musty like Worthmore might end up looking like.

Narrowing down my choices

Sain rajattua sanlongin tapetti vaihtoehdot kymmenestä kolmeen! Lisäksi päätin että laitan eteisaulaan ja muihin käytäviin paneelit.

I narrowed down my chinoiserie wallpaper choices for the salon from 10 to 3! I also decided that I'll put panelling on the halls.

 Worthmore.

 Bamboo and sparrows.

 Kew TNW.

Worthmore ja Bamboo and sparrows ovat ehkä vähän tummia, mutta niin kauniita. Täytyy printata niitä muutama paneeli lisää ja kokeilla koko seinälle tai ehkä kahdelle. Jos näyttävät liian tummilta laitan Kew TNWtä.

Worthmore and Bamboo and sparrows are a bit dark but they are so pretty. I have to print few more panels of those and try out a whole wall or maybe with two walls. If they turn out to be too dark I'll go with Kew TNW.

Panelling vs Chinoiserie

Yritän päättää mitä tekisin salongin seinien kanssa. Pitäisikö laittaa paneelia vai chinoiserie ( kineseria) tapettia tai ehkä molempia... päätöksiä, päätöksiä! Panelointi olisi enemmän aikakauteen sopiva, mutta chinoiserie tapetit ovat vaan niin kauniita ja talo on jo muutenkin sekoitus eri tyylejä joten ei yksi tyyli lisää varmaan hirveästi haittaa.

Löysin hyvän sivuston mikä myy 1:1 chinoiserie tapetteja, The Decorator Archives, josta ulostelin muutaman paneelin kivoimmista malleista ja seuraavaksi niitä täytyy päästä testaamaan itse huoneen seinällä, jotta näkee mikä niistä toimii parhaiten. Kaikkein mieluisimpia ovat ehkä ne tummimmat tapetit, mutta epäilen että ne saattavat olla liian tummia tuohon huoneesee vielä valojenkin jälkeen, no sen näkee sitten.


I'm trying to decide what to do with the walls of the salon. Should I do panels or chinoiserie wallpaper or maybe use both... decisions, decisions! Panelling would be more period appropriate but the chinoiserie wallpapers are just so pretty and my house is already a mix of different styles so it shouldn't really matter.

At least I found a great site of 1:1 size chinoiserie wallpapers, it's called The Decorator Archives. I printed a few panels of my favourites and next I will try them out in the actual room to see which one looks best. I really like some of the darker ones but I think they might be a bit too dark even with lighting, oh well, we'll see.
